Scholarship opens for post-grad Allied Health students

Allied Health Scientist at workThe Menzies Foundation has opened applications for the Sir Robert Menzies Memorial Research Scholarship in the Allied Health Sciences.

This research scholarship, valued at $27,500 per annum for each of two years, is open to graduates in any of the health sciences who have enrolled for a PhD in an Australian University and who have completed the first stage of their doctoral program.

Optometrist Sharon Oberstein was last year’s recipient of the scholarship. 

Sharon qualified as an optometrist in South Africa (Cum laude) and has worked in primary care optometry and university low vision clinics in South Africa, the United Kingdom and Australia. Her particular research area concerns driving and low vision.

Sharon is using her scholarship to complete her PhD project, ‘Strategies to facilitate driving in individuals with central vision loss’ at the University of New South Wales.
