Empowering Youth Leadership: Announcing the 2024 Menzies Foundation Global Voices Fellows

With the aim to shape a new generation of leaders who will drive positive change, strengthen communities, and make a lasting impact on Australian society and the world, Menzies Foundation remains committed to extending the Global Voices reach to a National program.

Menzies Foundation in partnership with Global Voices is delighted to announce the appointment of two 2024 Menzies Foundation Global Voices Fellows – Elina Forsyth and Nicholas Drew. These inspiring young people will join eight other young Australians who will embark on their Global Voices journey.

Fellows will attend the Global Voices rigorous pre-departure briefing and skills-building session in Canberra in May followed by attendance at the Y20 Summit in Rio De Janeiro in August. This opportunity brings together youth delegates from G20 countries to discuss and develop policy recommendations on global issues, providing a platform for young people to engage with policymakers and contribute their perspectives to the broader G20 agenda.

In addition, the Menzies Fellows will complete a policy fellowship, an extensive process where they develop key recommendations for domestic implementation.

“We are delighted to appoint Elina Forsyth and Nicholas Drew for this opportunity as fellows,” stated Liz Gillies, Menzies Foundation CEO. “This collaboration provides a powerful platform for our emerging leaders to reflect and build on their leadership capability. We look forward to witnessing their growth and accomplishments, whilst sharing their stories along the way.”

Global Voices’ Chief Executive Officer, Elly Hanrahan stated, “We were incredibly impressed with this year’s Semester One cohort. At Global Voices, we’re excited to provide these young leaders with an opportunity to increase their skills and understanding about policy as a vehicle for positive change.”

Throughout his journey, Nicholas has remained committed to justice, leadership, and making a positive impact in his community. Whether through academic pursuits, professional endeavours, or volunteer work, he strives to uphold these values and contribute to a better world for all.
