Leadership in Education; second Ed-Tech Pilot underway

The Menzies Foundation, in collaboration with the Australian Council for Educational Research (ACER) and Rising Team, is delighted to announce that the Rising Team for Schools Pilot 2024 is underway. This innovative initiative is developing a tech platform that supports leadership development for school teams in real time and at scale, transforming how teams operate within schools to foster collective efficacy and tackle complex educational challenges collaboratively.

The Menzies School Leadership Incubator recognises the vital importance of school leadership in enhancing the quality of education and improving student learning outcomes. With a focus on collective efficacy, this initiative suggests a new approach to leadership that supports school leaders in managing transformational change and developing the deeper collaborative capacity necessary to lead in complexity. This approach acknowledges the interplay between individual, team, and systemic dynamics in improving student learning outcomes.

The Rising Team platform is structured around three pivotal phases, Developmental Readiness, Collaborative Capacity and Complexity Leadership, aiming to transform how teams operate within schools, ensuring they are better equipped to foster collective efficacy and tackle complex challenges collaboratively.

2024 Pilot Schools

In line with the mission, “How do we build an accessible platform that supports schools to build collective efficacy and foster strong teams?”, the following schools will play a crucial role in testing and refining the platform, drawing on last year’s feedback to offer a more targeted suite of kits and reflective practices that anchor the platform in the work of schools and support teams to achieve greater success together:

  • Fairy Meadow Demonstration School
  • Forest Lake State School
  • Kolbe Catholic College
  • Marist Catholic College North Shore
  • Salesian College – Sunbury
  • St Margaret’s Anglican Girls School
  • Warakirri College

Following the success of last year’s pilot, the Rising Team for Schools platform has been refined based on valuable feedback from participating schools. The 2024 iteration offers a more comprehensive and targeted approach to support school teams in their collaborative efforts and leadership development.

Next Steps

With this next iteration of the Menzies School Leadership Incubator, we continue our commitment to empowering school teams to navigate the complexities of the education system, fostering an environment where collective efficacy can thrive. We look forward to working with our 2024 pilot schools and observing the transformative impact of the Rising Team for Schools platform on their leadership and outcomes.

The Menzies School Leadership Incubator actively welcomes others to join in its activities to incubate ideas and co-create solutions.
