Fuelling Innovation; Empowering Science Entrepreneurs to Bridge the Gap Between Research and Impact

In Australia, entrepreneurial scientists face unique challenges in commercialising science-based innovations, from securing funding to navigating regulatory complexities. Our Scholarship Program bridges this gap by equipping emerging leaders with the skills, networks, and resources needed to turn groundbreaking research into real-world solutions.

Inspired by our namesake, we support initiatives tackling issues critical to Australia’s future and through fostering leadership and innovation, this initiative helps build a thriving ecosystem where science entrepreneurs can drive sustainable progress for the nation.

In partnership with the MedTech Actuator, Foundation is addressing a critical gap for emerging science entrepreneurs: the transition from research to commercially viable enterprises. This initiative bridges the “funding cliff,” equipping scientists with the tools, networks, and support needed to turn their research into impactful innovations.

Each year, the prestigious MedTech Actuator Menzies Scholarship is awarded to 10 outstanding researchers and clinicians, providing a launchpad for careers at the intersection of science, research, and entrepreneurship. Scholars gain vital skills in research translation, commercialisation, and start-up development within Australia’s health, medical, and biotechnology ecosystem.

The program’s impact spans diverse fields, from obstetrics and neonatal care to orthopaedics, infectious diseases, and personalised medicine. By connecting these talented individuals with mentors, investors, and peers, the scholarship accelerates their ability to create solutions that benefit Australian communities and beyond.

This initiative ensures the next generation of science leaders is equipped to overcome barriers, seize opportunities, and deliver meaningful innovations.
