Science Entrepreneurship

Scholarship Program: In Australia, it is challenging for entrepreneurial scientists to establish enterprises to commercialise science-based innovation. Like our namesake, we’re committed to supporting leadership initiatives that grabble with issues that are germane to Australia’s future.

Talent Investment

In partnership with the MedTech Actuator, the Foundation is incubating a ‘talent investor’ approach which supports high potential science entrepreneurs to transition from institutional contexts and navigate the ‘funding cliff’ between research and development of investable enterprises.

Every year, the Menzies Foundation and MedTech Actuator collaborate to award 10 exceptional emerging researchers and clinicians the MedTech Actuator Menzies Scholarship. This prestigious scholarship is designed to assist the recipients’ commercialisation journey and support their pursuit of impact-driven career that combine science, research, and entrepreneurship.

The MedTech Actuator Menzies Scholarship Program provides participants with the opportunity to learn about research translation and commercialisation while also gaining insights into Australia’s health, medical and biotechnology start-up ecosystem.

The scholarship recipients represent a diverse range of fields, including obstetrics, neonatal care, assisted reproductive technologies, emergency care, paediatrics, orthopaedic surgery, sexually transmitted infections, personalised precision medicine and more.

Menzies Foundation is committed to developing a best practice approach to its philanthropic work and supporting better practice in the sector.
